Warwick Students Celebrate the Easter Season

Today Warwick Academy Primary celebrates the holidays with their annual Easter Competition! Students have entered creations and artwork for a variety of categories including egg decorating, posters, greeting cards, decorated cakes, Easter hats, and flower arranging.
Students were eager to see their creations on display for the awards ceremony and a visit from a very special guest, the Easter Bunny.
The festivities continued into the afternoon with kite flying on the field with family and friends. A wonderful day was had by all.
Junior Davis Cup Team Competing In El Salvador

Congratulations and best wishes to W.A student, Scott Redmond, as he travels to El Salvador. "The Bermuda Lawn Tennis Association sent their Junior Davis Cup Team of Trey Mallory, Tariq Simons and Scott Redmond to compete this week in El Salvador.
The Junior Davis Cup event, is being played at Polideportivo De Ciudad Merliot, El Salvador, and eighteen countries are represented at the event.
The team arrived on Friday afternoon lead by National Coach Ricky Mallory. Their weekend started with a light workout after the flight, and then practice sessions on both Saturday and Sunday to get acclimatized; temperatures this week will be in the mid-80’s" (BerNews, 2017).

Warwick Academy extends a huge congratulations to Year 13 student and Deputy Head Girl, Kate Stewart! She was selected into the New Zealand Sailing Olympic Fast track Squad!
"Eleven of the 12 who competed last year in Rio have been named in the high performance squad, including Olympic 49er champions Peter Burling and Blair Tuke, who will be key members of Emirates Team New Zealand's quest to win the upcoming America's Cup, as well as Finn sailor Josh Junior, who is also with Team New Zealand...
Sailing was one of New Zealand's success stories at the Rio Olympics, collecting four medals to equal the tally won in 1992 in Barcelona: gold to Burling and Tuke, silver medals for Aleh and Powrie and the 49erFX pair of Alex Maloney and Molly Meech and bronze for Sam Meech in the Laser" (NZHerald, 2017).
America's Cup Endeavour Program

This week a group of very excited W.A. Year 7 students took part in the America's Cup Endeavour Program. "The America's Cup is teaming up with some of the biggest names in the marine industry to launch an ambitious youth education and sailing program - the AC Endeavour Program - with a focus on leaving a sporting legacy in Bermuda...
"There are three main pillars to the Endeavour Program: First, and most importantly, an educational initiative: the America's Cup Endeavour Program will enable students across Bermuda to learn more about sailing through a cross-curricular STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) Education Program...Second: Youth Sailing - quite simply this is aimed at providing an experience in boats for kids aged between 9-12 years old, in Bermuda...Third: College Sailing internships with ORACLE TEAM USA" (America's Cup, 2017).
